REPORT AT EXIT STATION

The procedure for closure of Transit declarations differs depending on whether that station is connected to GCNet/GCMS or not.

Obligations of Customs Officers

  1. Verify if cargo is intact
  2. Inspect documents
  3. Physically examine consignment and if there is no GCNet/GCMS connection, compare results of examination with what is stated on documents. Record results of examination on declaration.
  4. If there is GCNet/GCMS connection, access GCNet/GCMS and verify details of consignment. Record results of examination in GCNet/GCMS.
  5. Release consignment for export on the declaration if no deficiency is detected. Endorse TRANS/1 document.
  6. If deficiency is detected, the importer or agent will be required to pay the duty forthwith before release.
  7. Dispatch TRANS/1 to country of destination for endorsement by the Customs authority.
  8. On return of endorsed TRANS/1, close transaction in GCMS indicating “shipment date” (Where there is GCNet/GCMS connection).
  9. Retain and return TRANS/1 and all accompanying documents including transit sticker to port of importation or where transit security is held for discharge of bond or refund of cash deposit.
